Latisse Eyelash Enhancer: beginnings

Many of you have heard of this new product named Latisse™ from Allergan. It’s designed to extend, thicken and darken your eyelashes by applying a serum once nightly. Have you wondered, how did Latisse eyelash extender come about? Latisse was actually discovered accidentally as with other medical treatments on the market today. The main ingredient, bimatoprost, is a medication used to treat glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The side effect, however, is the extension or progression of eyelash growth. After an extensive study, Allergan later began promoting bimatoprost’s side effect as its own treatment type. Latisse is the first and only FDA approved medical treatment for eyelash enhancement today.

Another great example is one currently used to help slow down hair loss in men and women. Minoxidil is used as a blood pressure medication but was reportedly also causing hair regrowth in most patients. Additional testing was made and now minoxidil is used as the key ingredient in FDA approved Rogaine topical treatment.

Although Rogaine does help slow down hair loss, it does not restore lost hair. For this situation, hair restoration surgery is another solution. Hair transplant surgery is done in our California Hair Transplant Clinics and is currently offering FREE CONSULTATIONS. Latisse is only recommended for patients whom still have eyelash hair but that is too thin or short. Latisse does not create new hair follicles or restore original hair. For patients suffering from eyelash hair loss or whom are missing hair in some or most of their eyelash area, eyelash hair restoration is another surgical option available today.

USHR MedSpa is an authorized prescriber and reseller of Latisse™ eyelash enhancer and can be prescribed by Dr. Parsa Mohebi, MD when you receive your consultation.
